The purpose of District 18 is to carry out General Service activities within the Conference structure, guided by the Twelve Traditions of AA, the AA Service Manual, and the Twelve Concepts for World Service. Service includes any activity that helps reach the alcoholic who still suffers, supports our own recovery, and protects the integrity of our Fellowship.

Authority rests solely in the group conscience, as expressed through each group’s elected General Service Representative (GSR). GSRs convey that conscience to the Area Conference through their votes at Area Assemblies or via the District Committee Member (DCM). District 18 exists only as a service body and is never a governing authority for AA.
